Today, I would like to talk about planners. Have I told you about my love of planners? It's more like an obsession. I typically never and I do mean never make it through and entire year with the same planner. My staff and friends in my office make fun of me because I am always shopping for planners or printing them, etc. Some people can just "fly by the seat of their pants" and I can do that but I am also a serious list person. If it makes it to a list then it will get done; if doesn't make a list chances are I am going to forget about it and never do it. When I am looking at planners I need to have something that I can make lists in and mark them off (something about marking things off that I just can't let go of). Of course my planner has to be cute too. I have my hands in everything, from working full time, managing my home, working on my new blog, working at my son's school, creating my crafts and on and on. I absolutely have to have something to keep me organized.
So Many Types of Planners
I have done everything from purchasing planners in the stores to creating my own and there are perks to both. If you need a planner with a variety in it sometimes going on to Pinterest and finding printable planners is the best route. However, that can be very time consuming, printing, hole punching, binding, etc. can take lots of time. I have also purchased just plain planners, quite frankly they don't do it for me. Not enough flexibility in them and they typically are not cute at all. I love all the printables on Pinterest and being able to add things to my planner helps keep me on track.
The Happy Planner
About 6 months ago I came across "The Happy Planner" and boy did I fall in love right away. I purchased mine at Michael's with a 50% off coupon so the cost was relatively inexpensive around $15.00. This planner has so much flexibility to be able to customize it the way you want to. In addition to your calendar they sell many different inserts to help customize your planner. I have purchased the home management inserts as well as the budget planning inserts and fitness inserts. They are also very cute. Some people have done videos on YouTube showing how they customize their planners.
These planners come in different sizes and there are quite a few different inserts for them, as well as stickers and fun stuff. They seem to be coming out with more and more items for these planners. They sell them at Michael's, Etsy and their website http://www.meandmybigideas.com/thehappyplanner/.
This was the planner that I purchased 6 months ago and it has served my purpose well. It was the perfect size for me. I don't care much for 8 x 10 planners. However, they do sell them if those are the kind that you like.
Then they came out with the harder covers for your planners. As you can see from the picture above the ends of my planner is kind of beat up. Since I received a Michael's gift card for Christmas I decided to purchase the hard cover and larger rings so that I can fill my planner a little more. The original one above I ended up keeping for my home management, meal planning and fitness calendars and used the hard cover planner for my personal/work calendar and my blogging calendar.
I would encourage you to take a look at The Happy Planner if you are looking for something that is flexible and inexpensive to help you manage your daily activities. I just can't say enough about how much I love these planners.
